What are the best training options for Dynamics 365 Training? How do you learn these complex applications? My journey into learning Microsoft Dynamics started in 2015. Since then, I have tried every option available, from consuming hours of free content online to paying thousands for instructor-led workshops.

In this post, I compare the various options for Microsoft Dynamics 365 training for all levels and budgets.
Who this guide is for
This guide is for IT managers choosing training for their team, consultants looking to upskill and get more strategic work assignments, and end users starting from scratch.
The four main Dynamics 365 training options
There are four options to learn Microsoft Dynamics applications.
Microsoft Learn: Free training content from Microsoft
Free, self-paced learning paths designed to help learners prepare to get certified. Microsoft professionals curate the content you'll find in Microsoft Learn, and it's vast as it covers every Microsoft application. Sign up for free on learn.microsoft.com with your Microsoft personal account, and you can also create learning collections and track progress. Microsoft Learn does not include video lessons; the content is text-heavy. If you are a visual learner or prefer hands-on training with a demo sandbox, Microsoft Learn is not for you.

Instructor-led: Your path to Microsoft Certifications
Provided by Microsoft Training Service Partners, certified trainers like d365training.com, this option is preferred by IT professionals who want to develop a career as a Microsoft Certified Professional. Course fee varies, and some partners offer training on-site. The sessions are interactive, with official Microsoft labs preconfigured with demo data. We cover the entire Microsoft Dynamics stack at all levels: https://www.d365training.com/instructor-led.
Self-paced online courses: 3rd-Party Training
Platforms like Udemy or Coursera offer online courses for Microsoft Dynamics created by Microsoft professionals. There are hundreds of options for all budgets. These courses are affordable and often come with an extensive curriculum that includes video lessons.
Internal Train-the-Trainer: The best way to train your team
Preferred by small businesses, this method requires managers and IT leaders to train users. This method is the best for users who want to use the Microsoft Dynamics application at work and be more productive, and are not interested in obtaining an official certification.
At D365Training, we help companies design and deliver bespoke training via our Learning and Development methodology: https://www.d365training.com/smb-training
This method requires team leaders and managers to learn how to train their team effectively. Some organisations also use a Learning Management System and align training with standard operating procedures.
How to choose the right option based on your situation
Choosing the right option depends on your organisation and your professional goals. For enterprises that use Dynamics applications, the phase determines how to choose the best training option for your team.
If you have an Implementation coming up, Online self-paced courses are a convenient option to familiarise with the applications before the consultants start building the system.
Familiarisation training is also available as bespoke training from Microsoft training services partners, though this type of training is more expensive.
Choosing to prepare for a certification is also an excellent way to prepare the management team before the implementation begins, so they will be ready to work with the consultants.
Companies that already use Microsoft Dynamics at work prefer a more bespoke approach, like corporate training. This type of training does not follow the official Microsoft curriculum, but it is designed according to each organisation's operating procedures and setup.
Training by app, module or by role
Dynamics training can be delivered by app, by module, role or as a combination of all three.
Microsoft certifications are arranged by app, with different levels of proficiency. That means you can get certified for a specific application, say Dynamics 365 for Finance, obtaining the MB-310 - Associate certification and move on to obtaining the MB-700 - Solution Architect certification later.

Here you can find all the available certifications arranged by app type: https://www.d365training.com/instructor-led.
Some applications also have an Expert certification you can obtain, but only if you already have the Associate. For example, you should get the MB-330 Microsoft Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management Functional Consultant Associate before trying to obtain the MB-335 Microsoft Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management Expert.
Training by role is less about getting certified and more about how to use the software. In this case, organisations get the best from bespoke training tailored to the teams and their role in the organisation.
What good D365 training looks like
Process-first, role-specific, not system-feature dumps. Your "Processes Before Technology" philosophy.
The best training method is the one that delivers results in terms of adoption, productivity and professional development goals. Collecting certifications for the sake of it might make your CV look attractive. Still, your ability to use, implement and even extend Dynamics applications depends on a solid foundation of business processes.
Microsoft certifications for Dynamics apps also measure your understanding of core business functions such as finance, supply chain management, manufacturing, procurement and more.
When trying to find out the best training options for yourself or your team, search for training providers that put processes before technology.
